ABOUT INSIDIOUS
Hello! I’m inSIDious (she/they), an American digital artist and illustrator. As my name might suggest, my artist persona is centered around darker themes, elements of gothic Victorian, horror and macabre, occult and supernatural. But that isn’t all that I enjoy doing!
I’ve been drawing from an early age, but I didn’t become serious about my work until the start of 2019. I had just gotten my first drawing tablet, a small Wacom Intuos, and a Photoshop subscription. (I've since upgraded to an XP-Pen Artist Pro, but still use Ps). Transitioning from traditional to digital was the moment I first felt truly confident in my abilities as an artist.
My semi-realistic art style came from an admiration for both vintage pinup and comic books. I liked the sort of realistic feel, but with enough fiction and fantasy that I have more creative freedom with the details and anatomy. While pinups and comic books were my inspiration, my personal flair was adding elements of supernatural to my characters.
A lot of my work is centered around original characters designs for personal use, worldbuilding, or from RPG campaigns like Dungeons & Dragons. I draw humans, but have a strong preference for fantasy humanoids like witches, vampires, demons and tieflings, elves, werewolves, zombies, etc.
Occasionally, I enjoy dabbling in creatures/animals and more cartoonish styles, but semi-realistic character designs are my specialty. I also enjoy creating fanart of characters from all sorts of media: comics and webcomics, cartoons, tv shows, movies, and video games.
